Graduate Commencement Ceremony

The University of Baltimore will host commencement ceremonies for its graduate and undergraduate classes from the College of Public Affairs, the Merrick School of Business and the Yale Gordon College of Arts and Sciences on Wednesday, May 23 in the Patricia and Arthur Modell Performing Arts Center at the Lyric, adjacent to the UB campus.

For the graduate ceremony, beginning at 10:30 a.m., the speaker will be Matthew D. Gallagher, president and CEO of the Goldseker Foundation. For the undergraduate ceremony, taking place at 2 p.m. that same day, the speaker will be Amy Gross, executive director of the France-Merrick Foundation.

At both ceremonies, UB President Kurt L. Schmoke will offer greetings to the graduating students and their guests, and also lead in the conferring of all degrees. At both the undergraduate ceremony and graduate ceremonies, Pres. Schmoke will be joined by Katrina J. Dennis, representative of the University System of Maryland Board of Regents, who will offer greetings on behalf of the board at the graduate ceremony. William Shorter, UB student and USM Student Regent, will offer greetings on behalf of the board during the undergraduate ceremony. 

Stuart Goldberg, B.A. '70, J.D. '74, president of the University of Baltimore Alumni Association and chair of the University of Baltimore Foundation's Alumni Committee, in welcoming the audience to both events. UB Provost Darlene Smith, B.S. '78, MBA '80, will conduct the ceremonial turning of the tassels for both ceremonies.

Student Sherri D. Lawson will offer remarks at the undergraduate ceremony as the official Class of 2018 representative. Demitria Judi De Riggs will serve in the same role as the Class of 2018 representative at the graduate ceremony.

The University of Baltimore is a member of the University System of Maryland and comprises the College of Public Affairs, the Merrick School of Business, the UB School of Law and the Yale Gordon College of Arts and Sciences.
