You can join the dozens of UBalt students who travel overseas as part of the Global Field Studies program offered through the Merrick School of Business. Each semester, the school offers for-credit opportunities for students to learn more about how business is conducted around the world, in countries like France, Portugal, China, Chile, Germany and more. In 2012, UBalt students will spend time in India (next January), Israel (next March) and Switzerland (next June). During these field studies, UBalt students and accompanying faculty meet with local business owners, government officials and everyday people to discover how commerce is conducted in another country, and how the global economy really works. The results, as you might expect, can be life changing.
Recently, UBalt business student Michael Sellitto shared with the University of Baltimore Magazine his spring 2011 experiences studying in Paris through the Global Field Studies program. (He took the Galeries Lafayette dome photograph above and on the University's homepage.)
"[W]we enjoyed talking with the French students and learning about their culture. In many ways they are not so much different than us!," Sellitto wrote in his journal, which the magazine featured in its online edition. "Most of them get to study abroad within their program and all that do said they want to spend some time studying in America at an American university."
