The 2011 UBalt HEROES Academy—the University of Baltimore's annual community outreach program in which area high school sophomores visit campus to experience one-day college courses and interact with college professors and students—will be held on Friday, Oct. 28. This popular Academy is a refreshing departure from the typical college visit. Since 2008, more than 450 high school students have participated; this year marks the largest class, with eight area high schools joining in and 240 students and their counselors expected to participate, alongside a record 75 UBalt staff and faculty volunteers. HEROES—Higher Education Readiness and Orientation for Exceptional Students—is led by UBalt's Office of Government and Community Relations.
Here's a sampling of this year's HEROES Academy offerings:
- Entrepreneurship
