Since September 2008, the United States and much of the world have been in the throes of the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression.
The current state of the economy—what many are calling the "Great Recession"—calls into question the effectiveness of leadership in many areas, including the government, corporations, banks and brokerage firms, and among individuals. How can today's leaders solve this economic catastrophe, and how can we, as a nation and as a major participant in the global marketplace, leverage our resources to ensure that we come out of the recession better off than we were before?
On Wednesday, Nov. 16, University of Baltimore experts on the economy as it impacts both the public and private sectors will present a panel discussion, "When Will the Recession End?," as part of Leadership UBalt. The event, free and open to the public, will take place beginning at 6 p.m. in Room 143 of the William H. Thumel Sr. Business Center (home of the Merrick School of Business), 11 W. Mt. Royal Ave.
Panelists will include:
- Daniel Gerlowski, professor in the Merrick School of Business
- Ed Gibson, assistant professor in the College of Public Affairs
- Charles Rand, executive director of the Entrepreneurial Opportunity Center.
Shelia Burkhalter, associate vice president of student affairs, will serve as moderator.
