The fifth annual Baltimore Area High School Ethics Bowl will take place on Saturday, May 12, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Room 141 of the University of Baltimore's William H. Thumel Sr. Business Center, 11 W. Mt. Royal Ave. Presented by the University's Hoffberger Center for Professional Ethics, the bowl's 2012 participating teams attend the following schools:
In this competitive exercise in critical analyses of case studies in ethics, high school teams from metropolitan Baltimore will examine some of today's most pressing issues. The Ethics Bowl is not a debate, but rather a chance to closely consider various aspects of a problem in search of the most appropriate and effective response. Teams are awarded points for weighing all sides of an ethical issue and providing sound moral reasoning in support of what they consider to be the right ethical decision in each case as presented.
The University of Baltimore is one of only a handful of universities in the nation to create, organize and sponsor this kind of activity for high school students.
