The fall schedule of the University of Baltimore's Spotlight UB arts and entertainment series features an eclectic mix of performances including comedy, central European music, internationally developed plays and classic film. Following its mission of reflecting the community, the Spotlight fall season showcases UB voices through the Reflections and Echoes Irish plays and the readings by veterans in November. Spotlight also continues its successful partnership with the Aspen String Trio, and initiates a partnership with Baltimore RetroCineFest. All Spotlight UB events take place in the UB Student Center’s Lucy and Vernon Wright Theater, 21 W. Mt. Royal Ave.
Spotlight UB's fall 2012 schedule is as follows:
Sept. 20
7 p.m.
Fall Laughing comedy show features the Temple of Improv's long-form improvisational comedy performance Baltimondo!, audience-participatory games with the UB Improv Club, and stand-up from UB comedians Dustin Fisher and Owen Bement, along with national comic "Indie-Mom of Comedy" Meshelle.
$10 general, $5 students and alumni
Sept. 25
7 p.m.
Reflections and Echoes: Plays and Poetry Inspired by Northern Ireland. Five UB students perform the short plays and poetry developed during a month-long residency in Armagh. This fundraiser will help support UB students for the 2013 program.

Oct. 9
7 p.m.
Aspen String Trio returns to campus for four residencies with writing and math students and to perform a concert of Central European composition entitled Too Many Notes, featuring the compositions of Schubert, Martinu, Strauss and Dohnanyi. Radio personality Jonathan Palevsky hosts the evening and provides historical context to the music.
$15 general, $10 senior and staff, $5 students and alumni
Oct. 17
7 p.m.
In this concert entitled Classical Affairs, Baltimore Symphony Orchestra members Phil Munds (horn) and Michael Lisicky (oboe) join pianist Mary Woehr in performing the compositions of Schumann, Kahn and von Herzogenberg written for their mistresses.

Nov. 8
7 p.m.
UB veterans read their memoir and fiction work in celebration of Veterans Day. The readings will be paired with a conversational panel focusing on integration into a campus after serving in the military.

Throughout the weekend
The first annual classic film festival Baltimore RetroCineFest premieres at UB. Programmed by Orpheum producer and film historian George Figgs, the festival's cinematic journey spans the history of film: Footlight Parade, James Foley's Glengarry Glen Ross, Busby Berkeley's Golddiggers of 1935, Spike Lee's Malcolm X, Satyajit Ray's The Music Room, Jean Cocteau's Orphee, Louis Feuillade's Tih Minh, Emir Kusturic's Time of the Gypsies, and Barbara Loden's coal mining classic Wanda.

AIDS Awareness Day (December 1st) is honored with NAMES Project quilt panels hung in the Student Center lobby.
