With the fall election fast approaching, experts in the University of Baltimore's Schaefer Center for Public Policy in the College of Public Affairs are busy preparing more than 2,400 election judges to run Baltimore's 296 polling centers on Nov. 4.
Election judges are receiving classroom and hands-on instruction about the roles and duties of chief judges, book judges, voting unit judges, and provisional ballot judges. Additional training is being provided to the judges who will work in Baltimore's six early-voting centers from Oct. 23-30.
Classes are being held Sept. 19-27 at the University of Baltimore, and Oct. 1-9, at Winston Middle School.
The Election Judge Training Program is led John T. Willis, Schaefer Center Faculty Fellow and College of Public Affairs Executive In Residence.
The City of Baltimore is still recruiting registered voters to be election judges for the upcoming cycle. Applications and additional information is available here.
The Schaefer Center for Public Policy is the applied research division of the College of Public Affairs.
