University of Baltimore School of Law Associate Professor Dionne L. Koller is quoted by ESPN in a piece on Italian figure skater Carolina Kostner, who was banned from competition because of her involvement in the doping case of her former boyfriend, an Olympic race walker. The ban, which was supposed to end in May 2016, is now set to expire Jan. 1. Kostner said she plans to compete in the 2018 Olympics.
"I thought the ban was fair," said Koller, who also directs UB's Center for Sport and the Law.
Even though the doping case was directed against Kostner's then-boyfriend, "She herself is subject to those obligations of testing and complying with the anti-doping program. This was not a 'gotcha' situation," Koller said.
