Six Attman Pitch Competition Finalists Announced; Winner to be Named Nov. 15

The six finalists for the University of Baltimore's 2016 Attman Competitive Business Prize have been announced. Five current students and one UB alumnus will share their business ideas for a chance to win $15,000 as the competition culminates on Tuesday, Nov. 15 beginning at 5 p.m. in the Town Hall in the H. Mebane Turner Learning Commons, 1415 Maryland Ave. The event—UB's own version of TV's Shark Tank—is free and open to the public.
The six finalists are:
- Robin Holmes, B.A. '12, representing Deddles Donuts, a food truck that sells mini donuts and buttermilk fried chicken strips throughout Baltimore;
- Meejee Kim, undergraduate student, for Badjo-T-Industries, maker of the Badjo Suit, the world's first fully customizable exoskeleton suit that can be adapted for many purposes;
- Hiba Mohammad, undergraduate student, for Asli, an online retailer that designs and sells sports clothing for active Muslim women of all ages;
- Lisa Parisi, undergraduate student, representing Mandala Massage Baltimore, LLC, a holistic health service that offers massage therapy and acupuncture to employees of mid-size companies;
- Mustafa Wahid, graduate student, for TransitioningU, an evidence- based mobile student success platform that helps higher education institutions retain students through automated coaching;
- Shane Yeager, undergraduate student, representing Short Clips, a marketing service that provides an easy way for businesses and agencies to create, measure and implement video across channels to their consumers.
The competition is hosted by the University's Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, and is a highlight of Global Entrepreneurship Week, being celebrated at UB from Nov. 14-18 with a number of special events
