Annual IP Law Symposium March 31 Focuses on China

The University of Baltimore School of Law’s 7th Annual Intellectual Property Law Symposium, to be held Friday, March 31, will focus on several aspects of IP law relating to the People’s Republic of China. The event, sponsored by the School of Law’s Intellectual Property Law Society, is free and open to the public.
Events get underway at 5:30 p.m. with a reception in the lobby of the law school, 1429 Maryland Ave., followed at 6 p.m. by a talk on recent developments in patent law in China led by Li Yi and Li Yuncheng, patent attorney and trademark attorney, respectively, with the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, the largest full-service intellectual property law firm in China.
At 7 p.m., Timothy Browning, attorney and advisor to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office’s Office of External Affairs, will discuss recent developments in trademark law in China.
At 7:45 p.m., John H. Zacharia, attorney with the U. S. Department of Justice’s Computer Crime and IP Section in the Criminal Division, will offer insights into U.S. government cooperation with China on matters related to intellectual property.
Finally, at 8:15 p.m., the speakers will present a panel discussion on major issues concerning IP in China, and on international enforcement of IP statutes and regulations. UB School of Law Associate Professor and Legal Skills Program Co-Director Eric Easton will moderate the panel discussion, while Professor of Law William T. Fryer III will introduce the symposium guests.
