Arnold Williams, B.S. '72, managing director for Abrams, Foster, Nole & Williams, a minority-owned certified public accounting firm based in Baltimore, will talk with University of Baltimore President Kurt L. Schmoke about his more than 40 years in the accounting profession, as UB's Merrick School of Business's "Lessons from Legends" series continues on Tuesday, April 2. The event, free and open to the public, will begin at 5:30 p.m. with light refreshments, followed by the program at 6 p.m. It will take place on the 5th floor of the University of Baltimore Student Center, 21 W. Williams, a certified public accountant, is a founding partner and currently the managing director of Abrams, Foster, Nole & Williams. AFNW is a minority-owned certified public accounting firm founded in 1983 to provide growth and development opportunities for African Americans in the accounting industry. Today, AFNW has grown into a diverse regional firm that serves the needs of companies and individuals throughout the Mid-Atlantic.
Williams has invested a lifetime in local economic development efforts. Among his many commitments, he was recently appointed chair of the Board of Directors for the Neighborhood Impact Investment Fund, a new public-private nonprofit partnership designed to spark investment in and spread economic opportunity to neighborhoods struggling to overcome decades of disinvestment. He also serves as chair of the Maryland Health and Higher Education Facilities Authority, past chair of the Board of Directors for the Baltimore Development Corporation, and a member of The President's Roundtable, Inc.
