The University of Baltimore School of Law's moot court team is on its way to Dallas, Texas to compete in the national finals of the American Bar Association's Client Counseling Competition. This is the second year in a row that UB has sent a team to the national finals. It will be held March 15-18 at Southern Methodist University.
The team, made up of two evening students, Flavia Williamson and Janel Southerland, is coached by faculty members Nancy Forster and Stephen Harris. The team captured first place in the ABA's Regional Client Counseling Competition, held at UB Feb. 17-18, by defeating moot court teams from Catholic University and the University of Pittsburgh. Other competitors in the regionals included Villanova University, the University of Maryland, Seton Hall, Georgetown University and George Washington University.
Both Williamson and Southerland are already working with clients, the former as a paralegal and the latter as a case manager.
Speaking of the regionals, Wiliamson said, "The competition was a wonderful learning opportunity. Preparation for the competition was intense but great, and Janel and I work really well as team. I'm really looking forward to the nationals."
The University of Baltimore is a member of the University System of Maryland and comprises the School of Law, the Yale Gordon College of Liberal Arts and the Merrick School of Business.
