Langsdale Library will present Alumni Authors, a free gathering to celebrate the writing, research and publishing accomplishments of UB alumni, on April 4. This event, including a reception and a panel discussion, shows that research and writing doesn't stop at graduation. We are inspired by the research and creative work of the UB community and encourage those with great ideas to find a path to publication.

The fifth annual Urban Child Symposium, "A Holistic Approach to the Urban Child’s Trauma: From the Eyes of the Beholder," will takje place on April 4. The symposium will address the importance of considering exposure to childhood trauma when developing more effective means to address the problems that urban children and their families face. It is hosted by the University of Baltimore School of Law's Center for Families, Children and the Courts.

The University of Baltimore Law Review and the UB Student Chapter of the Criminal Law Association will co-host a symposium, "Privacy Rights and Proactive Investigations: Emerging Constitutional Issues in Law Enforcement," on March 28. It will feature a panel discussion among several leading lights in law enforcement, prosecution and defense, and law enforcement-related technology.

The next edition of the Rosenberg Dialogue Series explores opportunities for the private sector to work in partnership with the public and nonprofit (nongovernmental organization) sectors to create a vibrant and economically strong society. This dialogue delves into how federalism and intergovernmental relations influence the type and extent of such partnerships. The dialogue will take place March 30.

The University of Baltimore Police Department is seeking accreditation from the national Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc., and will host a team of assessors from the organization on March 25, as well as a public comment session the following day. The CALEA assessment team will examine all aspects of the department's policies, procedures, management, operations and support services, and will accept public comment as part of the assessment process.

University of Baltimore School of Law alumnus Peter Angelos, LL.B. '61, has donated $5 million more to the school's new John and Frances Angelos Law Center, strengthening an ongoing effort for the building to attain a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Platinum rating by the U.S. Green Building Council - a status that will help it become a national model for sustainability in law-school building design. This marks the third major gift from Angelos to the project, which is named for his parents, and brings his total project support to $15 million.

The President's Cup, a new documentary film about an annual high school baseball tournament sponsored by the Office of Baltimore City Council President Bernard C. "Jack" Young and directed by Julie Simon, associate professor in the University of Baltimore's School of Communications Design, will premiere at UB on April 2.
