I am a leader.
I am driven.
I am a winner.
I lost my dad during a time in my life when I was transitioning not only from military to civilian but also from homeless to security. I was a fresh country dumpling from Hopewell, VA, but when I transferred to UBalt I became lost and hopeless. I didn’t have any CCBC-Catonsville family to talk to. I felt like I didn’t belong.
I lost my dad during a time in my life when I was transitioning not only from military to civilian.
After my first semester at UBalt, a nice woman said, “Just find your place and you can achieve anywhere.” I tried orientation leadership … no, not for me. I saw quotes about strength posted near the entrance of the academic building, and I read them daily. I saw my dad from heaven saying, “Go do it.” I took off running. I joined the National Society of Leadership & Success, wrote my SMART goals, and joined SGA (I almost became vice president). I was also the chairperson for the Campus Life Committee, not bad if I’d say so myself. Thanks, dad, and thanks to that mysterious woman who encouraged me to find myself.
