Under direction of the Assistant Vice President of Human Resources, the Senior Compensation Analyst serves as the University’s seasoned practitioner performing and consulting on a wide range of activities in the design, development and administration of compensation and job classification programs. Your proven expertise in analyzing compensation, reviewing and classifying positions, and developing decision-support metrics will bring value and success to the diverse missions served by the academic, research, community service and administration of the University of Baltimore.
More specifically, the Senior Compensation Analyst brings knowledge, expertise and experience to:
• Monitor the competitive compensation market and its aligned with the University‘s strategic total rewards program
• Measure internal equity and external market alignment of job classifications and market position.
• Provide compensation and classification consulting expertise to senior and middle management.
• Train managers and employees on the University’s compensation and classification strategies, policies, and practices.
• Identify, participate in and review third party salary surveys to maintain an awareness of the University’s competitive position and alignment with its compensation principles.
• Forecast and analyze competitive compensation, salary increase and adjustment programs, and report findings and recommendations to senior management.
• Represent the University’s interests on University System of Maryland’s Compensation Committee, a network of compensation professionals from all USM institutions and the System office.
• Ensure programs and practices are in compliance with state and federal regulations.
In the interest of maintaining contemporary and competitive workforce management strategies, this senior level position leads and partners in program design and development projects and efforts focused on applying best practices in compensation, job classification and performance management.
This senior practitioner will bring the knowledge and ability to perform compensation and classification quantitative data analysis and research using standard reporting tools, data extraction tools, surveys, and data reporting mechanisms. We are also looking for someone whose familiarity with technology will result in creatively exploring expansion of the University’s use of PeopleSoft HCM system and other recommended/related software and decision-support electronic systems.
Required Education and Experience
Baccalaureate degree in Business, Finance, Psychology, Human Resources or related field/discipline.
Five years of progressively responsible compensation and project management experience that include responsibilities for: compensation program design and development; communication of pay policies, programs, and procedures; managing legal compliance; utilizing HRIS to query, analyze, and prepare reports on employee information.
Preferred Education and Experience
Master’s degree in Business, Finance or related field/discipline. Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) designation.
Compensation and/or human resources experience in higher education. Experience working with PeopleSoft Human Capital Management.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Possess expertise level understanding of the principles and practices of classification and compensation and their application and relationships to other human resources programs. Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, interpersonal communication, project planning and project management skills. Demonstrated creativity in providing new and contemporary approaches to pay for performance programs. Ability to extract and manipulate data from HRIS.
