University of Baltimore —The School of Criminal Justice in the College of Public Affairs invites applications for a tenured/tenure-track (open rank) faculty position. A non-tenure track, contractual “Executive-in-Residence” would be possible for a senior practitioner with substantial experience and an appropriate terminal degree. The appointment will begin in March 2016 and is contingent upon final budgetary approval.
The Universities at Shady Grove, located in Gaithersburg, is part of the University System of Maryland serving a diverse urban professional community. The School of Criminal Justice orients its academic priorities toward integration with the real world, capitalizing on geographic location in an urban environment that acts as an extended classroom and provides research opportunities. The School offers a B.S. and M.S. degree in Criminal Justice each certified by the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences and a B.S. and M.S. degree in Forensic Studies. A new M.P.S. degree program in Justice Leadership & Management will begin at the Universities at Shady Grove in Fall 2016. Candidates for this position should hold a Ph.D. in Criminology, Criminal Justice, or a Ph.D. in Leadership & Management with professional experience working in the Criminal Justice System. Candidates should have a record of scholarly activities appropriate to their rank and clearly demonstrate the potential for quality university instruction and service to their profession and the university. Candidates considered as an Executive-in-Residence should demonstrate capacity for quality instruction and extensive experience and expertise in professional practice.
The new Director will be responsible for managing the program, maintaining community linkages with local agencies, continuously improving and assessing the overall program, and teaching core graduate courses in the program. This position requires that the person hired be an active member of the faculty who contributes to program development, governance, and sustainability. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
