Join a University and team that is positioned for Greatness! The University of Baltimore is planning for our next record setting comprehensive campaign. The campaign will be celebrating UB’s centennial anniversary and be endowment focused. The major gifts officer will be a key team member that will assist us in successfully meeting our campaign goal. Being involved in the initial planning stages of the campaign presents a unique opportunity for the candidate to introduce innovative fundraising ideas, concepts and best practices.
The University of Baltimore seeks a dynamic and creative Major Gifts Officer (MGO). The MGO serves as a front-line fundraiser with primary responsibilities of establishing and managing effective relationships with varied donor prospects and existing annual and major donors. Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Institutional Advancement the MGO’s primary focus will be on identifying and cultivating new major gift prospects and designing and implementing successful cultivation and solicitations strategies with a focus on major gifts of $25,000+ with graduates, friends and businesses. The Major Gifts Officer will be responsible annually for the delivery of increased and new revenue from a pipeline of major gift prospects. The position monitors all prospect contact to ensure positive and purposeful prospect and donor relations. 75% of the Major Gift Officer’s time will be focused on securing and making donor visits. Local and national travel is essential. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Baccalaureate degree in field supporting incumbent’s success.
Experience: Three years of progressive development experience. Consideration will be given to annual giving leadership experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Master's degree in Business, Marketing, Sales, Psychology or related field/discipline. CFRE.
Experience: One of three years of progressive development experience in major gifts and capital campaigns in higher education. Raisers Edge experience.
Ability to understand the needs and interests of major gift donors in order to develop relationships between them and the university. Belief in the mission of public higher education. Must possess a proven fund raising track record, including a proven ability to make engagement calls. Demonstrated leadership and the ability to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously and a record of completing assignments timely. Must demonstrate excellent oral, strong written and exceptional interpersonal skills. The successful candidate demonstrates personal initiative and perseverance, a sense of humor, a friendly, positive, outgoing, and collaborative approach, and a strong team-oriented style. Proficiency with office technology (including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) Experience with Raisers Edge 7 a plus. Mature judgment in handling sensitive and confidential information required. Must be willing to attend occasional evening and weekend events and activities. Must be willing to travel regionally and nationally
