The Schaefer Center is seeking a full time Research Analyst to assist the Center in preparation of grant proposals, research, data collection, data analysis and report writing. The Research Analyst collects and analyzes data using advanced statistical techniques and independently interprets the data. The Research Analyst also determines, develops and evaluates the methods and sources of data collection. and is responsible for organizing data results and writing reports, conclusions and recommendations. The Research Analyst also assists the Schaefer Center in the identification of research opportunities and preparation of grant proposals.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Assembles, collects and analyzes social, economic, public health or other data for reports;
-Prepares both narrative and statistical reports of a complicated nature and supporting or illustrative material such as charts, tables and graphs;
-Coordinates work efforts with clients, Schaefer Center staff, and research subjects;
-Assists in the preparation of reports including conclusions, findings, suggestions and recommendations for future action based on the completed research project;
-Prepares questionnaires, worksheets, sampling methods, and reporting procedures;
-Determines sources of information, and their reliability, and the method of study;
-Edits raw data for accuracy, completeness and consistency, and detects and traces data discrepancies;
-Identifies potential research opportunities and assists in preparation of proposals.
QUALIFICATIONS
-Education: Bachelor’s degree in public administration, public policy, social science, or related discipline
-Experience: Two years of related experience. A masters degree in a related field may substitute for one year of required experience. Requires advanced proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and SPSS or similar statistical software.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: A master's degree is preferred. Prior policy analysis, legislative analysis or public sector research experience is preferred.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES
-Knowledge of statistics or research methods, and proficiency in statistical interpretation and data analysis using statistical software (e.g., SPSS) as well as other word processing, spreadsheet and database management software applications (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Access). Experience with survey software is a plus.
-Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
-Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal communication, along with report writing skills;
-Excellent organizational and project management skills;
-Excellent attention to detail;
-Excellent interpersonal skills;
-Ability to work collaboratively on a team;
-Ability to maintain confidentiality of subjects and information obtained.

•Click the plus sign to the left of "References" to enter two professional references.
•After you enter your education information and references, click “Save,” then click “Next.”
