The Bank of America Center for Excellence in Learning, Teaching and Technology (CELTT) supports faculty and staff in enhancing the academic experience at the University of Baltimore by promoting and sharing best practices in teaching and learning; facilitating professional development; positioning faculty as both teachers and experts in their fields; supporting, coordinating and implementing creative and innovative approaches to program development and student achievement; and enhancing and promoting the UB culture as it relates to educational excellence. CELTT is looking to add an instructional designer to our team to implement e-Learning initiatives, instructional design, and small-project oversight related to online learning, hybrid and face-to face program development at the University of Baltimore. * Work with faculty on the development of online, hybrid and face-to-face courses and resources.
* Provide training and support assistance to students, faculty, and staff.
* Determine needs for academic and administrative e-Learning initiatives by working with University and non-University groups.
* Deliver direct services to faculty and schools implementing online courses including synchronous and asynchronous efforts.
* Create high quality face-to-face and online resources for administrators, educators, students, and stakeholders.
* Conducts research to identify applications for new and emerging instructional technologies against section 508 and WCAG Accessibility Standards. Collaborate with the Office of Technology Services to assist faculty in evaluating new instructional software and hardware.
Note: e-Learning is a 24/7 operation though most components of the job fit as a traditional work schedule. There is an expectation of a varied schedule within the academic semester.
This is an onsite position at the University of Baltimore.
Required Minimum Qualifications
Education: Baccalaureate degree in instructional design, educational technology or related social sciences.
Experience: Three years of progressively responsible experience in instructional technology, curriculum development, course design, and learning management platforms. Instructional design of fully-online courses and degree programs. Administrative responsibilities of a Learning Management System in an educational setting.
Preferred Qualifications
Education: Master’s degree in instructional design, educational technology or related social sciences.
Experience: Five years of progressively responsible experience including working with online course quality assurance programs (e.g., Quality Matters, Online Learning Consortium). Learning Management Systems (LMS) background is preferred to be Sakai. Higher education background preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Demonstrated knowledge, skills and abilities in areas to include but not be limited to: curriculum development, instructional design, accessibility/universal design, digital media and/or instructional technology, learning management platforms (such as Sakai), project coordination, excellent verbal, written and electronic communication skills, highly organized and detail orientated, successful performance working with a high degree of independence while able to work well in a team environment, collaboration skills in working with faculty and outside vendors.
