University of Baltimore (UB) – The Klein Family School of Communications Design seeks a half-time lecturer specializing in digital platform writing and editing including public relations writing and social media writing. Position begins August 15, 2019 (contingent on final budgetary approval).
Candidates for this position must have professional experience in the desired areas and a terminal degree in a related area. Some experience with social media theory and research methods is helpful.
We are searching for a new faculty colleague who can assist in continually evolving our programs in the rapidly changing environment of online writing while assisting students in developing their individual capacities for creativity, problem solving, life-long learning, and flexibility in the face of change. The successful candidate will have a passion for student learning and for developing a 21st century curriculum. We seek a writer with practical expertise and background in several of the following:
• writing for digital media;
• social media rhetoric and content generation;
• public relations writing and implementation strategies;
• data analytics and visualization; d
• social media theory, design, and functionality.
Duties include:
• Teaching both undergraduate and graduate courses as required;
• Participation in professional growth activities and continuous awareness, development, and integration of trends and developments in the field;
• Serving collegially on committees at the division, college, or university levels;
• Helping with curriculum and program development;
The UB School of Communications Design is a vibrant core to the university’s applied liberal arts program, as well as the home to several innovative majors including one in Digital Communication. This major has three concentrations: Digital Theory & Culture, Media Design & Production, and Public Relations. We also have an undergraduate English major that offers professional writing courses. Our graduate programs are an MA and MFA in Integrated Design and an MFA in Creative Writing & Publishing Arts. The standard teaching load for half-time faculty is four courses per year.

Qualifications:
Required: Candidates must have recent professional experience in the desired areas and a terminal degree in a relevant area. Candidates should have higher education teaching experience, and the potential to work collaboratively as active members of a faculty, contribute to program and curriculum development, and participate in university service and other areas of faculty responsibility.
