The Senior Admission Counselor position will be responsible for Graduate Admission recruitment and coordination. This Counselor will work primarily with the College of Public Affairs (CPA) and is responsible for achieving specific enrollment objectives for new graduate students through recruitment, admission and enrollment activities. The Senior Admission Counselor will serve in the Enrollment Management Division under the leadership of the Associate Director of Admission dedicated to graduate efforts, and the Special Assistant to the Provost for Enrollment Management.

The Senior Admission Counselor will cultivate prospective graduate students through individualized communications, recruitment events, presentations, individual campus interviews, chats, social media interaction, etc. The position coordinates recruitment activities directed to graduate prospects and applicants. The Senior Admission Counselor makes some admission decisions, coordinates the conversion of admitted to enrolled students with colleagues in CPA, in the Offices of Financial Aid, Offices of Records and Registration, and Student Affairs.
The Senior Admission Counselor is responsible for recommending CPA graduate recruitment strategy, and developing a holistic recruitment plan with the guidance of the Associate Director, CPA faculty and administrators, and the Special Assistant to the Provost for Enrollment Management, informing enrollment goals. The Senior Admission Counselor is accountable for developing and managing deep relationships with appropriate external community partners in other undergraduate programs, businesses, and appropriate agencies, creating pipelines to UB enrollment. They will establish and maintain strategic relationships with key partners within and outside of the University of Baltimore. Duties include:
Recommending CPA graduate recruitment strategy, and developing a holistic recruitment plan with the guidance of the Associate Director, CPA faculty and administrators, and the Interim AVP for Enrollment Management, informing enrollment goals. Accountable for developing and managing deep relationships with appropriate external community partners in other undergraduate programs, businesses, and appropriate agencies, creating pipelines to UB enrollment. They will establish and maintain strategic relationships with key partners within and outside of the University of Baltimore.
Meet aggressive enrollment growth goals by actively recruiting prospects and applicants through various outreach efforts: travel, phone, email, on campus, online. Meet targets for inquiries, applicants, and enrollment including specific weekly goals for tele-counseling, visits, contacts, and applicants. Plan, attend, and present at recruitment events, other undergraduate programs that align with UB graduate offerings, relevant area businesses and organizations, and other local and regional events. Cultivate and advise prospective students as they make decisions about furthering their education by providing information about the University, its programs, procedures, and campus life. Responsible for the engagement and conversion of CPA prospects and applicants. Advise all prospects on aspects of UB including program choices, financial aid, assistantships, admission, registration, and campus life.
Coordinate applications for program directors’ review, using electronic workflow (ImageNow) and PeopleSoft. Assist with mail processing during peak times by scanning documents, linking documents from ImageNow to PeopleSoft records, and updating checklist status, education screens, and other data in PeopleSoft. Efficiently use PeopleSoft to check application status and provide assistance to applicants, admissions staff, and program directors and advisers.
Establish and maintain relationships with key partners within and outside of the University of Baltimore. Maintain relationships with various on-campus staff and off-campus influencers to facilitate enrollment. Participate in professional organization activities relevant to the field of graduate business admission and recruitment. Network with other admission professionals to ascertain best practices in the field.
Assist with other prospective student pools when necessary, including graduate, transfer, and freshman.
Requires some evening coverage, occasional weekends, as well as flexible scheduling during peak recruitment times.
Required Education and Experience
Education: Bachelor’s degree in sales, marketing, public relations, psychology, public administration, business, communications or related field/discipline.
Experience: 3 years professional and progressively responsible experience in admission, sales, marketing or related field/discipline.
Preferred Education and Experience
Education: Master’s degree in marketing, business, communications or related field/discipline.
Experience: 5 years of progressively responsible experience in admission in a higher education institution. Bilingual (preferably English/Spanish fluency). Previous experience using database systems (preferably People Soft), customer/constituent relationship management systems (preferably Salesforce), and document imaging (preferably Image Now).
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated ability to meet goals. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite programs. Ability to learn and adapt to new technology. Excellent public speaking with the ability to inspire an audience to action. Attention to detail, with agile problem solving skills. Excellent written communication skills with the ability to adapt to the University style guide and the preferred AP format. Ability to make decisions, work independently, and be a team player, in a fast-paced environment. Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation is required.
