RLB Library, home to academic support at the University of Baltimore, is hiring a Tutoring Coordinator to manage academic skills coaching and content-focused peer support for challenging undergraduate and graduate courses. The Tutoring Coordinator will recruit, hire, and train student leaders in consultation with faculty recommendations and in accordance with campus need. The coordinator oversees UBalt’s embedded coaching and tutoring services with target courses. This position oversees CRLA promotion and verification processes for RLB and maintains CRLA and ACLTA certifications. The coordinator assists the director with planning, reporting, and assessment. In addition, the coordinator develops, presents, and coordinates coaching/academic skills workshops influencing classroom performance. This position requires a commitment to student success and a team-oriented, collaborative approach to innovative and comprehensive academic support.

Key Responsibilities:
-Oversee all personnel delivering course-specific support and embedded support for content areas. Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate peer tutors providing course content tutoring across all subjects as well as lead tutors assisting with program administration and training. Supervise and managed data collection related to satisfaction and usage. Manage development and promotion of scalable learning tools.
-Manage all aspects of academic coaching services including embedded coaching for freshman seminar and appointment-based coaching. Develop and co-deliver workshops on study skills, critical reading, and other academic skills influencing student performance (e.g., motivation, self-efficacy); serve as a campus resource on these topics and student development theories.
-Assess need for, and ongoing utilization of, course content-focused support; direct resources and outreach accordingly. Identify high-risk courses by monitoring curriculum changes, enrollment trends, and grade distributions, and liaising with faculty, department chairs, and academic advisers. With tutors, track current demand and oversee day-to-day utilization of support to identify areas of unmet need or tutor underutilization. Work closely with RLB Library colleagues across all departments to strategize, disseminate information, and collaborate on service improvement and tutor recruitment.
-Oversee onboarding and CRLA-certified training for all peer course content tutors and writing consultants in concert with other Academic Success Coordinators. Maintain credentials as a CRLA-certified training center. Provide supporting instructional materials for peer tutors; direct publicity of course content-focused services; manage allocated student contracts in relation to overall department budget. Oversee continuing development of online service delivery options for course content-based tutoring.
-Assist director and fellow Academic Success coordinators with near- and long-term department planning, assessment and reporting; assist in development and implementation of general policies and procedures. Contribute to development of Online Tutoring Training material.
-Network with regional learning center and USM personnel; participate in local and national conversations and professional activities to monitor and advance developments in course content-focused support; implement best practices. Participate in Library/Academic Affairs and other UBalt initiatives as needed/requested

Required Education and Experience
Education: Master’s degree.
Experience: Three years of relevant higher education experience, including some experience in a supervisory role in a learning center, writing center, or other higher education student success program. College teaching or tutoring experience. Experience working with students of diverse backgrounds, particularly first-generation college students. Experience with data-oriented reporting and assessment.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Excellent organizational, interpersonal, leadership, mediation, and public speaking skills. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students. Knowledge of theories of learning, academic adjustment, and motivation. Familiarity with online education, online academic support options, and the educational needs of college students of diverse ages, ethnicities, and backgrounds. Competency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Zoom.
