The School of Law seeks an Associate Dean for Administration who is responsible for the administration of the law school with approximately 100 faculty and staff members, a student body of more than 700 students and a budget of more than $24 million. This position oversees and manages finance and administration, grants, admissions, career services, the law library, fundraising and development, external relations and international programs. Additional responsibilities include managing a range of personnel, safety and facilities issues. The Associate Dean helps to lead strategic planning as well as the reaccreditation of the law school. This position may be called upon to launch key initiatives such as the development of new programs and to identify and pursue alternative funding sources to enhance revenues.
The Associate Dean serves on law school and university committees as needed and works with a range of university and community partners to accomplish law school goals. The person in this position engages extensively with members of the legal community, alumni and the community at large to build support for the school and its programs.

Key Responsibilities
Supervision and Management of Staff
• Supervise multiple members of the senior staff and executive directors providing feedback/evaluation, direction and support including Law Admissions and Enrollment Management, Career Development, Law Library, External Relations, Finance and Administration, Center Directors and executive staff.
• Conduct all-staff meetings, plan for regular professional development and other community building activities to create a positive climate and culture within the law school.
• In concert with the Office of Human Resources and counsel for the university, manage a range of personnel issues including timekeeping, FMLA, ADA and performance reviews.
Budget and Finance
• Working with the Dean and senior budget manager, develop and monitor the law school budget to ensure adequate resources for the law school.
• Work with the foundation and the Office of Sponsored Research to identify, apply, obtain and monitor grants and donated funds.
• Continue the development of Responsibility Centered Management (RCM) budgeting approach that governs the law school’s budgeting relationship with the university and work with internal stakeholders to develop their skills and abilities to manage their departmental or area budgets.
Policy and Planning
• Assure communication and compliance with all university, system, state and federal policies and laws.
• Serve on university committees regarding the development of policies and procedures where appropriate.
• Help lead re-accreditation of the law school and ensure annual compliance with ABA standards. Also, participate and assist with compliance requirements for university accreditation.
• With the Dean, lead strategic planning for the law school and help guide planning efforts in critical areas of the law school including the advancement of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion efforts for the law school community.
• Lead strategic initiatives including potential new emerging areas of focus and new programming for the law school.
External Relations
• Working with the Director of External Relations and Law Admissions, oversee the marketing and recruitment of prospective law students in both JD and non-JD programs.
• Working with the Dean, the external relations team and university partners, help craft the law school’s strategies for alumnae engagement and development including ongoing communications, events and boards to focus on cultivating, retaining and stewarding law school donors and partners.
• Oversee the development of a robust communications’ strategy that targets the legal academy as well as the legal community to raise the profile of the law school and enhance its reputation.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
• J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school or its equivalent
Experience:
• 10 or more years of legal or professional experience
Preferred Qualifications
• 5 years’ management or supervisory experience
• Experience in higher education
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Ability to work with budgets, grants and a variety of funding sources
