The Center for Drug Policy & Prevention at The University of Baltimore is looking for a highly organized candidate with an excellent academic track record and writing skills for the part-time (20 hours/week) position of Public Health/Public Safety Fellow I to work within ADAPT: A Division for Advancing Prevention & Treatment. ADAPT serves as the national training and technical assistance resource for prevention programming in High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas (HIDTAs) across the nation. This part-time Year 1 fellowship of up to 20 hours per week will support the development of knowledge-based competencies in the area of substance use prevention, development of skills related to the provision of training and technical assistance within public health and public safety, and prepare the fellow in general work skills. As part of their interdisciplinary training, the fellow will be oriented to all W/B HIDTA services including substance use treatment and prevention, law enforcement activities, and drug intelligence activities to facilitate increased knowledge in the way these sectors collaborate to reduce the demand and supply of drugs. The work location for this position is our Reston, VA offices.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Support training activities and product development
2. Support technical assistance requests through activities such as conducting literature reviews and creating resources.
3. Assist with communication projects via email and social media.
4. Support program evaluation efforts
5. Attend relevant ADAPT meetings and support various administrative tasks (e.g., proofreading reports, project research)
Education: Bachelor's degree required
Experience:
• Two years’ related experience
• Previous work on projects that required excellent organizational, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills
• Strong computer literacy
• Previous experience conducting academic literature reviews
Additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.
Must be able to think analytically and strategically. Outstanding interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Skilled at problem-solving. Customer-service orientation. Team player. Computer savvy.
Ability to pass a HIDTA Background Check and Drug Statement are required for this position.
