University of Baltimore —The School of Criminal Justice in the College of Public Affairs invites applications for a full-time tenure-track (open rank) faculty position. The appointment will begin in August 2015 and is contingent upon final budgetary approval.
The University of Baltimore, located in downtown Baltimore, is part of the University System of Maryland serving a diverse urban professional community. The School of Criminal Justice orients its academic priorities toward integration with the real world, capitalizing on geographic location in Baltimore, a real city that serves as an extended classroom and provides research opportunities. The School offers these degrees: B.S. and M.S. in Criminal Justice each certified by the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences, M.P.S. in Justice Leadership & Management, M.S. in Forensic Science – High Technology Crime, B.S. in Forensic Studies, and the School also offers two certificate programs in crime scene investigation and forensic document examination. The School is currently engaged in expansion of its academic programs related to forensic studies (which utilize state-of-the-art forensic laboratories and maintains a strong partnership with state and local police departments and the state medical examiner’s office.) Candidates should be prepared to teach a range of core criminal justice courses; however the area of specialization is open. The successful candidate may have an opportunity for course development in their area of specialization and/or expertise. This position requires that the person hired be an active member of the faculty who contributes to program development, assessment, governance, and sustainability.
Candidates for this position must hold a Ph.D. in Criminology and/or Criminal Justice Candidates for this position should demonstrate potential for (tenure track Assistant Professor) or evidence of (Associate or Full Professor with tenure) scholarly achievement which may include peer-reviewed and other publications (books, monographs, applied research reports), experience with extramural grants and contracts, and recognition within his or her profession and/discipline. Candidates should also demonstrate potential for (tenure track Assistant Professor) or evidence of (Associate or Full Professor with tenure) quality instruction, curriculum design, and supervision of student projects where appropriate. All candidates should demonstrate potential for or experience in service relevant to the university, academic profession, and/or community.
Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
