The Office of Technology Services (OTS) is recruiting for a Director of Instructional Technology to provide leadership for the development of the University’s instructional technologies and online learning through strategic planning and consistent execution in the areas of media, classroom and online technologies, the use and management of multi-purpose computer labs and the development of course tools and training to support learning outcomes. The position directs the performance of staff in outreach and support of faculty and staff building effective face-to-face and online experiences for the University community. Through instructional technologies, curriculum tools, and pedagogical strategies, the Director supports student success and University strategic goals. The Director supervises e-Learning personnel, lab managers and media staff and oversees technology training and support activities that assist faculty in identifying, developing, exploring and implementing pedagogically relevant instructional strategies.
Requirements:
Education: A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Instructional Technology and Learning or other related fields is required with a Ph.D. preferred
Experience: Requires five years of progressively responsible work experience in managing instructional technology services delivery and design, and online course management systems and two years staff management experience. Experience in higher education is preferred.

• Experience working with budgets and budget planning.
• Familiarity with the common software tools used within instructional technologies and in teaching and learning.
Main Functions of the Position:
Assesses, recommends and implements innovative models of instructional technologies and online learning. Evaluates new and emerging technologies and their ability to meet both teaching and learning needs. Oversees the project management methodology for reporting units, including technology refresh.
Establishes performance metrics for units to ensure needs are continuously being met. Directs managers of units. Ensures that all units have established a baseline work plan, using a documented basis of estimate for human resources, capital resources and time requirements and dependencies, including the overlap and coordination of other functional units; ensures that these plans are up-to date and service delivery is enabled; identifies resource requirements and issues to the Assistant Vice President.
Directs interactive use of media technologies in classrooms and in other meeting locations across the campus; the primary users are faculty, staff and students while clients of auxiliary services are also served. Oversees the design, refresh, maintenance and support of student computer lab facilities and any specialized OTS supported computer lab facilities.
