Work as part of the Law Career Development Office (LCDO) team to counsel and coach students and alumni in career planning, professional and talent development, job search strategies, resume preparation, interviewing skills, and networking in the diverse legal market and other professional career paths. Responsibilities will include overseeing the EXPLOR (Experience in Legal Organizations) program, which places 1L students in summer placements, and involves the development and management of employer relations and recruiting. Responsibilities also include overseeing the public interest career programming, including pro bono programming. Maintain database of placements and work collaboratively with faculty. Establish and nurture relations with employers. Attend on-site employer visits for recruiting meetings with alumni, recruiters and hiring partners. Collect, analyze and report employment data. Research and post job opportunities. Assist with on campus recruitment efforts.
Responsibilities
Manage judicial and attorney summer externship placements, primarily through the EXPLOR program:
• Develop and manage the LCDO’s employer relations and placement options.
• Maintain database of placements and work collaboratively with faculty.
• Assist students in identifying and securing externships.
• Collaborate with other UB School of Law Offices and Programs
• Prepare applications, promotional materials and handbooks for internal and external audiences.
• Establish and nurture relations with employers, including state, federal, and public interest employers and the Judiciary.
Student support:
• Respond to employer and student inquiries.
• Counsel students and alumni.
• Review resumes and cover letters.
• Conduct mock interviews.
• Present trainings and programming for students
• Facilitate networking opportunities for students, by identifying and attending with students bar functions, meetings, and other networking events.
Employer Relations:
• Establish and nurture relations with employers.
• Attend on-site employer visits for recruiting meetings with alumni, recruiters and hiring partners.
• Research and post job opportunities.
• Assist with on campus recruitment efforts.
• Oversee Career Fairs
Oversee pro bono and public interest programming:
• Develop and manage the LCDO’s relations with public interest employers
• Oversee the Public Interest Career Fair
• Manage the Public Interest Fellowships process
• Manage the Pro Bono Challenge Program, including identify pro bono opportunities, supporting student involvement, and collecting and reporting on volunteer hours
Statistics and Reporting:
• Collect and analyze employment statistics.
• Compile reports.
• Utilize computer database for employment reporting and information gathering.
Assist in the management and creation of social media content
Qualifications
• Juris Doctor (JD)
• Five years or more in the practice of law or related professional experience.
• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Computer literacy
• Familiarity with the legal job market is preferred, as is previous experience in marketing, recruiting, and/or presentation and speaking skills.
• Knowledge of career development and placement strategies in the legal field, related industries or in an institution of higher education.

•For country, enter USA or click the hourglass to select another country.
•You can use the first day of the month wherever dates are required.
•Click the plus sign to the left of "References" to enter two professional references.
•After you enter your education information and references, click “Save,” then click “Next.”
