The University of Baltimore seeks an Assistant Vice President for Undergraduate Recruitment and Strategy primarily responsible for the development and implementation of the university's recruitment strategy and oversight of external facing initiatives related to undergraduate enrollment. Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Admission and Enrollment Management, the Assistant Vice President for Recruitment and Strategy has direct oversight of freshmen and transfer recruitment and admission. He/she identifies opportunities for partnerships and enrollment growth within these markets and as defined in the University Strategic Plan. This position emphasizes strategies to increase transfer enrollment.
Key Functions/Responsibilities/Tasks
Develops, implements and assesses the strategy to recruit and enroll freshmen students and new transfer students, particularly from the community college system, to meet university goals. Develops, implements and assesses a freshmen recruitment plan. Builds strong partnerships and develops strategies to maximize enrollment from community colleges. Works with the Associate Director of International Admission and Services to coordinate outreach to the community colleges for international students. Works with Office of Financial Aid to develop a financial aid strategy that supports enrollment and maximizes net tuition revenue for undergraduates. Works with related University offices to coordinate and streamline enrollment services for new undergraduate students.
Develops, implements and assesses a recruitment plan for programs offered at the Universities at Shady Grove campus.
Works with the Associate Vice President of Admission and Enrollment Management and the Director of Marketing to develop messaging and communication to attract and enroll new undergraduate students, including web site, CRM communication, collateral materials, etc. targeting freshmen, transfers, and Shady Grove students.
Assist with new hires, and trains, develops and supervises undergraduate recruitment staff. Supervises the Assistant Director of Undergraduate Recruitment. Fosters and cultivates excellent customer service to internal and external constituents.
Works with academic affairs to support recruitment efforts, develop articulation agreements, and align community college/four-year curriculum to ensure ease of transfer credits and academic preparedness; focus on expanding opportunities for credit for prior learning.
Forge cross-functional relationships to ensure implementation of technology best practices (CRM, PeopleSoft); the accurate, timely processing of admission operations and communications; and establishment of processes for strategic enrollment management, compliance, effectiveness and efficiency.
Required Education and Experience
Education: Master’s degree
Experience: Ten years of progressively responsible experience within enrollment management, especially in regard to transfer students and adult students.
Preferred Education and Experience
Education: A second advance degree or Doctorate
Experience: Knowledge of and experience with Maryland community colleges, state agencies, and public high school systems. Master user of ARTSYS.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Experience within a tuition-driven, urban college/university with a diverse student body. Direct and significant experience with current best practices for higher education marketing and recruitment of undergraduate traditional and adult students. Excellent managerial skills, with experience leading a professional team in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrated ability to implement change. Experience with recruitment CRMs and external vendors/partners who support enrollment. Experience with Salesforce, Image Now and PeopleSoft highly desirable. Professional demeanor, with strong interpersonal and communication skills required to work within a collaborative university team.
Evening and/or weekend hours will be required during peak times.
