In Spring 2019, we stopped accepting applications and removed this posting from our website. Position was open until filled, and applications received by November 8, 2018 received priority consideration.
The Klein Family School of Communications Design (KFSCD) invites applications for two tenure-track (rank of assistant or associate) or Professor of Practice (non-tenured) faculty positions in Graphic and Interactive Design beginning in August 2019 (contingent on final budgetary approval). The positions require professional and/or artistic accomplishments and evidence of teaching ability appropriate for classroom and online instruction at both the undergraduate and graduate level. At least one hire will be at the associate professor level, someone who can step into running a program.
Three innovative programs in KFSCD offer design classes: the MFA in Integrated Design, the MA in Integrated Design, and the BA in Digital Communication. The School’s interdisciplinary faculty is continually developing new ways of approaching and teaching design. KFSCD is an innovative and dynamic environment in touch with the current marketplace, with a mission of helping students become accomplished professionals. Our programs all rely heavily on digital design, and programs in other divisions link to this curriculum as well.
For this position we seek an individual who can teach a broad variety of design courses across media platforms, including linear and interactive media and web design. Ideal candidates will also have a strong foundation in design theory and history. Candidates must also demonstrate an awareness of current industry trends in the design field and the desire to explore new developments both theoretically and in practice.
The standard teaching load is six to seven courses per year.
