The Bank of America Center for Excellence in Learning, Teaching and Technology (CELTT) supports faculty and staff in enhancing the academic experience at the University of Baltimore by promoting and sharing best practices in teaching and learning; facilitating professional development; positioning faculty as both teachers and experts in their fields; supporting, coordinating and implementing creative and innovative approaches to program development and student achievement; and enhancing and promoting the UB culture as it relates to educational excellence. Under the supervision of the Director of Online Learning, this position implements e-Learning initiatives, provides day-to-day administrative support of the Sakai Learning Management System (LMS), and supports engaged teaching and learning in the LMS for all course delivery formats. The person in this position maintains expert-level knowledge of the LMS, and s/he has a high level of technology skills and a strong familiarity with Sakai LMS features and with a wide variety of related tools from various perspectives, including instructor, student, and administrator.

Manage daily operations related to LMS support and workflow. Manage the creation and modification of LMS course sites, including oversight of user enrollments. Communicate in a timely way with instructors, students, and staff regarding LMS updates and associated tools. Collaborate with outside vendors. Track, document, communicate, and manage software updates and batch processes using project management software. Report usage statistics on the LMS and related services. Maintain and document known issues, user needs, and feature requests for the LMS, and analyze them to determine how best to advocate for them; work with CELTT team to enhance technology solutions to common pedagogical issues. Recommend implementation decisions and collaborate to implement test plans. Develop, test, propose, implement, and assess new or updated tools, standards, and policies for the LMS. Provide support to users, including workshop training. Maintain the confidentiality of all user information.
Promote effective, innovative pedagogy in learning and teaching to ensure student success. Collaborate with the CELTT team to work with faculty on the development of online, hybrid and face-to-face courses and resources. Design and implement outcomes-based, competency-based instruction, and assessment tools to be used in courses in all delivery modes. Apply best practices in instructional design, implementing new tools and strategies and appropriate technologies for adult learners. Work with Office of Technology Services (OTS) to promote and facilitate best practices and appropriate use of the University’s instructional technology resources, and to assist faculty in evaluating new instructional software and hardware.
Implement course evaluations and processes for each academic term. Work with Associate Deans to add custom questions as needed. Distribute reports.
Evening and weekend hours may be required.
Required Qualifications
Education: Baccalaureate degree in instructional design, educational technology or related social sciences.
Experience: Five years of progressively responsible experience in LMS use including testing and evaluation.
Preferred Qualifications
Education: Master’s degree in instructional design, educational technology or related social sciences.
Experience: Experience with Sakai LMS. Experience with online course quality assurance programs (e.g., Quality Matters, Online Learning Consortium).
Additional requirements: Demonstrated knowledge, skills and abilities in areas to include but not be limited to: LMS, instructional design, accessibility/universal design, digital media and/or instructional technology, project coordination. Excellent verbal, written and electronic communication skills; highly organized and detail orientated; successful performance working with a high degree of independence while able to work well in a team environment; collaboration skills in working with faculty and outside vendors. Knowledge of higher education environment.
