Support the administration and coordination of the University of Baltimore (UB) programs offered at the Universities of Shady Grove (USG) located in Rockville, MD. Provide first-level advising services to UB students enrolled in academic programs offered by UB at USG. Assist USG Student Services with coordination and facilitation of new student orientation sessions. Assist all students at USG, with initial advisement upon admissions, monitoring of progress towards degree (including recommendations regarding course substitutions options for USG and main campus programs), and review of degree records prior to graduation. Schedule new student initial academic advising session for every undergraduate student accepted into the USG programs. Work collaboratively with enrollment management on recruitment initiatives. Contact prospective students to provide program specific information. Oversees UB’s online presence including the UB website, and social media. Identifies and makes recommendations for improvement in gaps in communication and process between and among UB faculty and staff, as well as the USG site to optimize programs and support to students.
* Serves as the primary advisor to students to UB students enrolled at USG.
Supports academic advising processes at the Shady Grove campus as an active member of the Academic Advising community on UB’s main campus. Assists students with initial advisement upon admissions, monitoring of progress towards degree (including recommendations regarding course substitutions options for USG and main campus programs), review of degree records prior to graduation. Supports processes to assist faculty advisors, including implementation of early warning systems and oversight of student success initiatives. Proctor junior level writing assessment to UB students. Review and approve Bee Line applications. Advise Bee Line Students. Run various query reports for advising needs. Support academic initiatives such as internships as appropriate.
* Supports the implementation of a strategic recruitment, enrollment and retention plan for USG. Works with Vice Provost, Assistant Vice President for Undergraduate Recruitment and Strategy, and faculty to identify opportunities for new academic program offerings, partnerships and events at USG in order to grow enrollment and revenue.
* Responsible for the administrative and logistical operations of UB programs at the Universities at Shady Grove. Broad responsibilities include space planning, technology needs, course scheduling, ensuring timely communication to UB constituents, and coordinating web presence. Identifying gaps in communication and process between and among UB faculty and staff, as well as the USG site to optimize programs and support to students. Makes recommendations for improvements.
* Serves as a liaison with marketing and communication staff at UB to ensure UB’s on line presence including the UB website, and social media is aligned with UB message and strategies.
* Represent UB and actively participates on appropriate committees at USG.
Required Education & Experience:
Baccalaureate degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, Sociology, Business or other related field contributing to the incumbent’s success. Five years progressively responsible experience in a higher education setting including advising, and in a leadership position.
Preferred Education & Experience:
Master’s degree. Advising, Enrollment management and marketing experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of best practices in student advising. Familiarity with the Montgomery College and the surrounding regions community colleges. Ability to initiate and support opportunities and partnership s with these institutions. Ability to work across programs at both USG and UB to coordinate in conjunction with enrollment and marketing at UB to optimize functions especially communication, recruitment and marketing. Ability to develop professional and collaborative connections. Excellent oral, electronic and written communication skills. Proficiency with basic Microsoft Office applications and PeopleSoft Campus Solutions strongly preferred.
