The Senior Admission Recruiter is responsible for the recruitment and enrollment of diverse and qualified students through a consultative sales approach. The recruiter is required to meet established goals for the quantity and quality of admission applications, admitted students and enrollment of new undergraduates in alignment with the University Strategic Plan and goals for tuition revenue. The Senior Admission Recruiter manages an assigned geographic recruitment territory, evaluates prospective students for admission and scholarships, communicates with prospective students to move them through the admission and enrollment process, and attends a number of on and off-campus events in support of the Admission Office. Evening and weekend work is required.

Key Functions/Responsibilities/Tasks
On – and Off- Campus Recruitment:
• Recruits Prospective Freshman and Transfer Students by traveling to high schools, community colleges, fairs, and related events year-round, to interact with students.
• Utilizes management reports to assess historical and current year productivity to establish a territory management plan; implements and monitors the plan relative to meeting goals. Manages time and responsibilities to meet weekly and monthly goals.
• Identifies opportunities and builds long-term partnerships and relationships with high schools, community colleges, and other external organizations, stakeholders and influencers through visits and outreach activities i.e. workshops and presentations.
• Plans and conducts individual campus visits with prospective students and families at all stages of the recruitment/enrollment funnel. Plans the experience appropriate to the student at the current stage of enrollment. May include meetings with financial aid, faculty, student services, etc. with the purpose of moving the student to the next stage in enrollment.
• Collaborates with both admission and other campus-based colleagues.
• Provides a positive and transparent customer service experience for students and their families, colleagues, and institutional partners.
Application and Scholarship Review/Decisions:
• Follows established criteria and processes for evaluating completed applications to render an admission decision. Reviews application, transcripts, test scores and essay or letter of interest, and letters of recommendation. These processes involve data entry and follow up with students.
• Reviews prospective students for scholarship eligibility.
• Utilizes enrollment/admission technologies (Salesforce, ImageNow)
• Demonstrates independent judgement and the highest level of accuracy in the admission decision and scholarship review processes, and in the entry of required data.
• Manages sensitive and confidential information;
Communication and Marketing:
• Initiates communication and responds to prospective students on a daily basis at all stages of the admission funnel (from first point of interest through enrollment) to answer questions, qualify level of interest; assess admission to the University; collect missing documents; and move the student to the next stage of enrollment.
• Assesses the needs and goals of prospective students and matches these to offerings at the University.
• Develops and conducts presentations to key stakeholders and influencers, i.e. individuals and groups of students; high school and community college counselors; future partners; faculty and staff; alumni; parents: and teachers on the distinctive features, benefits and outcomes of a University of Baltimore education with the purpose of generating referrals, interest in enrollment and/or moving the student to the next level of the enrollment funnel.
• Commits to learning features, benefits and outcomes of each academic program offering within each professional pathway and demonstrates the ability to communicate these to prospective students, key stakeholders and influencers.
• Conducts competitor analysis and demonstrates awareness of competitor messaging and positioning. Advises management of findings to best position University of Baltimore in the marketplace.
• Participates in the planning and implementation of recruitment events, including evening and weekend events.
General Duties and Responsibilities:
• Attends and participates in training sessions, meetings and staff events.
• Covers the front desk on occasion to answer the phone and greet office visitors.
• Participates in the training of first year admission recruiters and student workers.
Required Education and Experience
Education: Education: Baccalaureate degree in Sales, Marketing, Public Relations, Psychology, Public Administration, Business, Communication or related field/discipline that coordinates with/applies to the responsibilities of the position.
Experience: Three years of professional experience in admission (with direct responsibilities for and a demonstrated record of success in achieving individual enrollment goals) sales, marketing, or a related discipline (with direct responsibilities for and a demonstrated record of success meeting goals).
Competency in the use of MS Suite
Familiarity with a CRM: customer/constituent relationship management system
Preferred Education and Experience
Education: Master’s degree in Sales, Marketing, Public Relations, Business, Communications, Higher Education.
Experience: Higher education admission experience at a tuition driven institution strongly preferred. Professional experience using PeopleSoft, Salesforce, and Image Now are also strongly preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Must have the following: ability to travel, access to a reliable means of transportation, a valid driver’s license, and the ability and willingness to work evening and weekend hours.
Must possess the desire, attitude and willingness to spend significant time on the phone.
Data analytics: ability to assess reports, manipulate spreadsheets, and make data-based decisions that drive actions towards meeting daily, weekly and semester goals.
Ability to multi-task, prioritize work and manage details.
Must be comfortable working in a goal driven (will have individual recruitment goals), fast paced environment.
Must be a self-starter with ability to take initiative, demonstrate independent judgement and follow through.
Must have a strong commitment to customer service and willingness to go above and beyond basic expectations.
Ability to work within a team as well as owning responsibility for individual work outcomes.
Technology: required to effectively use CRM, ERP, Document Imaging and Office Suite
Communication– Excellent presentation and written and verbal skills.
Knowledge of Social Media and its use in the recruitment of prospective traditional and post-traditional students preferred.
Knowledge of current national trends in admission and enrollment management, with participation or membership in NACAC, AACRAO, or other national or regional organizations preferred.
Evening work required to attend college fairs, events and to make calls to prospective students. Saturday work required to attend recruitment events and office coverage for Saturday Admission Office hours; coverage for Saturday office hours are a rotating responsibility.
