Under the direction of the executive director of the School of Criminal Justice, the incumbent serves as the primary liaison between the academic partners and the community-based agencies and organizations that participate in the Roper Victims Academy training programs. Coordinates training schedules, acquiring commitments from regional agencies in scheduling trainings and ensuring training areas meet demands of regional community. The incumbent is also responsible for alumni association, and marketing to potential participants; assisting with ensuring training is up to date and relevant to the field and current policies. Assists with the development, implementation, and organization of the Academy. Supervises student assistants and volunteers. Support Academy faculty, as needed. Organize and lead community advisory groups located throughout the five (5) geographical regions in Maryland. Travel and support regional trainings is required.
Key Functions/Responsibilities/Tasks:
- Serve as the primary manager and liaison between the academic partners and the community-based agencies and organizations. Lead and manage regional advisory groups and attend agency board meetings. Support large (800+) alumni association and assist with organizing and supporting events and activities.
- Contact potential participants for advanced training, assist with identifying potential training topic areas based on needs of community, supporting needs of trainers, and maintain participant waiting lists, monitoring participant selection criteria, developing certification protocols, identifying agencies for community marketing presentations, developing sustainability strategies, and assisting with the development, implementation, and organization of the Academy. Provide support to faculty. Supervise student assistants and volunteers. Onsite program coordinator for all trainings including week long academy.
- Responsible for identifying participants, identifying training needs and training topics, certification standards, training standards and completion verification, overall marketing and sustainability. Primary liaison with national SVAAs, meetings and conference calls, exchanging key information and supporting the other Academies.
- Responsible for marketing potential participants to the Academy, conducting recruitment sessions, meeting with partner agencies.
** Required to be site during regional and Academy week of training. Expected to attend community-based meetings and participate in committee work and engage in conference calls with national constituents. Attend professional conferences as they apply to the program, and support alumni activities.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree is required. Experience may substitute for education on a year for year basis.
Required Experience: Four years of experience in organizational development and capacity building; community organizing and establishing collaborative initiatives; providing technical assistance and support; and systems integration.
Preferred Experience: Experience working with criminal justice professionals at various levels, and engaging in community-based meetings and committees.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of Maryland State government and criminal justice organizations, the integrated and collaborative efforts of each agency, and their integration of victims into the system. Understanding of crime victim resources, services and support, victims rights and integration in the criminal justice process. Strong knowledge and experience with computers and use of internet to communicate, share and exchange information, and marketing tools, website management, and other resources to support the program.
