The campus webmaster is responsible for the management and continuous improvement of the University of Baltimore’s public websites to meet the functional and engagement needs of today’s higher education constituents. This position provides leadership, vision and guidance in the planning, coordination and execution of activities associated with the architecture, functionality and governance of the University's public web properties.

This individual provides expertise in the analysis, design, development, testing and deployment of new websites and features, working closely with stakeholders across the University to create ideal and effective digital experiences. As a member of the University’s marketing team, this individual will collaborate with internal and external marketing and content specialists to establish and advance campus-wide digital strategies in alignment with the institution’s marketing and communications goals.
Coordinates and oversees the ongoing development, production, delivery and improvement of the content, design and functionality of websites for the central University and its academic and administrative units
Develops, executes, and maintains an overall web governance and production strategy, with emphasis on user experience, lead generation, conversion strategy, site design, and effective content management
Provides ongoing analysis, enhancement and maintenance of the University’s digital environment to ensure support of the University’s business goals; ensures relevant data collection, reporting capabilities and quality assurance across all web properties, including driving ongoing benchmarking, dashboard monitoring and analytics intelligence to support data-informed decision making
Ensures compliance of web templates and pages with WCAG 2.0 accessibility standards and institutional policy, style and brand standards; provides guidance on adhering to WCAG 2.0 (including within content); and makes recommendations regarding overall usability specifications for priority digital functions such as enrollment applications and CRM communications
Develops and manages web development and support procedures, tools, documentation; develops institutional web standards, policies and procedures; and evaluates existing internal processes and develops new processes as needed to ensure optimal efficiency and efficacy
Chairs the University’s Web Work Group; facilitates communication and knowledge transfer among the institution’s distributed team of content providers; provides governance and ongoing education for all University web publishers; and oversees training and administration of the University’s CMS
Works collaboratively with the University community to plan, coordinate and execute website initiatives, championing each academic and administrative unit’s unique needs while maintaining UB’s digital standards and ensuring brand consistency; serves as liaison between the Office of Marketing and Creative Services and the Office of Technology Services and works collaboratively to integrate enterprise systems with the public website as necessary; and supports the University’s agency of record in the delivery of business intelligence, analytics and performance data related to marketing and advertising campaigns
Leads in the adoption of new and emerging interactive technologies and best practices in digital media to enhance an architectural framework which supports the University’s strategic and business goals
Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required.
Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field
Experience: Four years of professional experience in website design, development and administration
Preferred Qualifications
Education: Master’s degree in a related field
Experience: Five or more years of experience in website administration in higher education; experience in project management of enterprise-level websites
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Expert knowledge of the website development process, from concept through implementation; strong technical knowledge and demonstrated experience in internet technologies including databases, front-end technologies, server-side scripting, content management systems, HTML, CSS, JavaScript and APIs; knowledge and understanding of best practices and standards including user-centered design, responsive design, inclusive design, W3C web design specifications and WAI WCAG 2.0 web accessibility standards; familiarity with web monitoring, quality assurance and analytics tools such as Google Analytics and Google Search Console; ability to manage large, complex projects throughout the product development lifecycle; experience presenting to and interacting with a variety of stakeholder audiences across a complex organization; and the ability to clearly communicate technical information to non-technical audiences.
