The Assistant Director serves as the primary recruitment person for law admissions. This includes: coordination of off-campus events and travel; organization and planning of on-campus events; creation of the on-campus recruitment schedule; and social media engagement with prospective and admitted students. The assistant director also serves as the primary person to process applications and the lead for CRM and PeopleSoft strategies and implementation. Additional responsibilities include applicant status reporting, management and creation of email communications and management of the waitlist. The Assistant Director is the primary point of contact for admitted applicants.

The Assistant Director coordinates events and recruitment for law admissions including the following:
• Plans and schedules off-campus recruitment travel and special events on campus for law admissions team.
• Presents at prospective student open houses and at admitted student days.
• Updates the website and creates the daily visit calendar.
• Monitors appointments and notifies admissions staff of appointments.
• Counsels prospective and admitted students.
• Conducts tours and organizes additional meetings with law staff and faculty.
Communications – The Assistant Director handles a broad array of communications at a number of points in the process up and until the student enrolls and attends the law school.
• Serves as the Law School Admissions Forum (LSAC) contact and is responsible for communication and registration for LSAC forums and hotels.
• Authors and runs the platforms used to communicate with LSAT registrants, test takers, forum registrants and forum attendees.
• Creates multiple email communications for each type of prospect. Creates reports to generate emails. Schedules emails for mailing. Assembles and mails prospect packets to prospects.
• With the Assistant Dean, creates admitted student communication’s plan. Creates multiple email communications for admitted applicants. Collects institutional data for communication content including placement data, class data, bar passage data and scholarship data. Creates reports to generate emails and the schedule for mailing. Generates admissions’ communications in PeopleSoft and mails admit packets to prospects.
• Updates website with daily visit calendar.
• Responsible for law admissions email address. Requires responding to prospective and admitted applicants. Serves as primary contact for admitted applicants. Sends ad hoc communications to admitted and deposited applicants regarding scheduling, orientation, financial aid and other necessary information.
• Coordinates and implements social media strategy to engage prospective and admitted students.
• Reviews applications within the presumptive deny and waitlist categories and selects applicants within these categories for committee review. Completes residency decisions. Updates PeopleSoft and Aces2 with decision status and residency status.
• Manages the applicant waitlist which includes producing regular waitlist reports, communicating with waitlist applicants to determine interest, updating applications with new information and updating admission statuses for withdrawn applicants.
• Performs daily application and test score load from Aces2 into PeopleSoft. Manually enters paper applications.
In addition, the Assistant Director assists with non JD Programs and is the lead for the Law school’s work with the university in maintaining and adopting new system approaches to admissions and recruitment
Required Education and Experience
Education: Bachelor’s Degree
Experience: Five years combined law school and general admissions experience.
• Masters or JD
• Law admissions experience
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Superior communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
• A proactive customer service orientation
• Ability to work with diverse populations
• Strong Microsoft Office skills
• Understanding of how to utilize student administration databases for recruitment
• Strong writing skills
• Willingness to take on new challenges
• Valid driver’s license
