Under the supervision of the Assistant Provost for Student Assessment, Advising & Retention (Assistant Provost, SAAR), the Assessment Coordinator supports the assessment function at the University of Baltimore. Coordinate UB’s comprehensive assessment program for the purpose of institutional improvement and in accordance with accreditation standards. Serves as a resource to members of the UB community as they develop and refine student learning outcomes (SLOs) and the various assessment reports. Collaborates with members of the core assessment teams, faculty, and staff to develop effective strategies for the assessment of student learning outcomes. Supports new and ongoing student success initiatives by developing and/or enhancing assessment plans related to them.
In conjunction with the Assistant Provost, Associate Deans, and Program Directors, shares responsibility for the integrity of TaskStream data. Provide training for assessment and planning and executing assessment related events. Collaborates with CELTT to schedule trainings and workshops. Serves as the primary reviewer of assessment reports and must provide timely and informative feedback to faculty and staff. In collaboration with others, support individuals in the use of TaskStream including data entry and report generation. Ensures program SLOs are mapped to UB Learning Goals, General Education goals, and Graduation Requirements. Creates TaskStream reports and works with Associate Deans to ensure they have the necessary assessment information for their respective Colleges.
Collaborates with Assistant Provost, SAAR to develop and refine assessment resources for the UB community. Provides ongoing support for assessment activities. Serves as a liaison with offices and programs on campus to develop and facilitate institutional workshops that promote best practices in assessment. Works with various forms of data (surveys; focus group feedback; dashboard data; etc.) to better inform and contribute to the assessment process. Works with members of the UB community to support both direct and indirect assessment methods. Assists in developing institutional assessment reports for internal and external constituencies. At the direction of the Assistant Provost, SAAR, develop and deliver presentations. Provide analytical and administrative support for the Core Assessment Team (CAT), Academic Core Assessment Team (ACAT), and Administrative Core Assessment Team (ADCAT).
Required Education and Experience:
Masters degree from an accredited institution with focus in Education, Psychology, Communications, or related field that supports the incumbent’s successful performance. Two years of progressively responsible experience in assessment in an educational setting.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Certification in assessment. Three years of progressively responsible experience in assessment in a higher education environment. Experience with TaskStream or other assessment related software system. Familiarity with or ability to learn PeopleSoft and SPSS. Knowledge of regional accreditation standards as well as program-specific external accreditation standards.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of current best practices in assessment with a primary focus on student learning outcomes assessment (SLOs). Ability to develop close professional and collaborative connections across the University; work effectively with faculty and staff; and support assessment across the institution. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Provide timely and productive feedback to faculty and staff regarding assessment reports. Ability to train people on the use of assessment technology. At the direction of the Assistant Provost, SAAR, develop and deliver presentations. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
