Reporting to the AVP of Human Resources, the Compensation Analyst is responsible for the design, development and administration of the University’s compensation program to support attraction and retention of outstanding staff and faculty. Works within the framework of the University System of Maryland (USM) while supporting the strategic initiatives of the University. Monitors, evaluates and manages internal and external equity and ensures programs and practices comply with state and federal regulations.

Essential functions include:
* Conduct job analysis and evaluation: review and finalize position descriptions through an iterative process with department managers to ensure positions are clearly defined, classify position under USM classification system, determine appropriate qualifications and target salary range.
* Monitor competitive trends in compensation and identify the strategic position of University divisions compared to other employers: complete annual salary surveys, identify and recommend appropriate market surveys, partner with academic divisions to identify peer institutions and CIP codes for faculty.
* Provide compensation consulting expertise to management: provide guidance on organization / job design, develop communications regarding compensation programs, develop and deliver training for supervisors regarding compensation policies, practices and administration.
* Lead projects related to compensation, job classification and performance management.
* Serve as a member of the USM Compensation and Classification Committee.
Qualifications: Position requires a bachelor's degree in related field and three years of experience in compensation. Master's degree and higher education experience preferred. The successful candidate will have demonstrated analytical, problem solving, decision making, interpersonal and project management skills.
