The Assistant Director for Non-JD Law Admissions and Special Projects develops and executes a comprehensive recruitment and admissions strategy for LL.M. students and other students seeking non-J.D. courses. This includes drafting all communications to potential students, development and maintenance of web content, conducting student interviews, application processing and recruitment travel. The Assistant Director builds and cultivates relationships to market the non-JD programs to the legal community, government agencies, business and industry both domestic and foreign.
The Assistant Director also develops and executes a strategy to utilize JD alumni and faculty in outreach activities to high school and college populations. This includes promoting faculty and alumni as guest lecturers, speakers and mock trial coaches. This is done in conjunction with the Office of Law Admissions and the Director of Outreach and Diversity Initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
Non-JD Recruitment, Admission & Conversion
• Develop a strategic recruitment plan. This includes identifying and cultivating key student markets, including international markets.
• Responsible for establishing policies, programs, and procedures for admission to non-J.D. Programs, including performance standards and accountability measures.
• Development and implement a comprehensive communications plan for non-JD recruitment.
• Identify and cultivate relationships with professors, government officials, attorneys, and business leaders in the U. S. and internationally to recruit qualified applicants through on and off-campus recruiting events, including virtual events. Use travel to cultivate important relationships and recruit students. Continuously evaluate and refine recruitment plan in light of market conditions and applicant pool.
Non-JD Admission
• Develop admissions processes from application to admissions decision. This includes creation and maintenance of the online applications for admission, maintenance of data in two databases (LSAC and PeopleSoft), coordinating with faculty directors on admissions decisions, processing admissions decisions and communications of decisions to applicants.
• Evaluate processes on a regular basis to assess effectiveness and make necessary changes.
• Anticipate changes to the law admissions systems (PeopleSoft and LSAC) related to admissions processes in order to use the systems to their full potential.
• Be knowledgeable about ABA, University, Law School and University System Policies as they relate to admission of Non-JD students. Responsible to monitor for changes to these policies to ensure compliance.
• Provide regular reports concerning the number of prospective students, applicants, admits and enrollment.
Non-JD Conversion
• Develop and implement an integrated conversion plan for admitted applicants to include multiple communications and events. Coordinate with the office of law admissions, the office of financial aid and any other office to facilitate the movement from admit to enrollment.
Special Projects- JD Admissions
Faculty Utilization
In consultation with the Assistant Dean for Law Admissions, develop a program to promote faculty participation at external events to increase the profile of the law school to potential students.
Faculty Recruitment – In consultation with law school administration, recruit qualified and interested members of the faculty to participate in the program. Create and maintain a listing and web content of faculty experts in the program.
Outreach – Develop and implement a plan to promote the faculty experts to various institutions both locally and regionally. Institutions will include community colleges, colleges, universities and high schools.
Alumni Utilization
In consultation with the office of law admissions and the director of alumni relations, develop a program to promote alumni involvement in the admissions process and to participate in external events to promote the law school.
• Alumni Recruitment – Recruit interested alumni to participate in the program. Create and maintain a listing of interested alumni.
• Outreach and Admissions Process - Develop and implement a plan to promote alumni experts to various institutions both locally and regionally. Institutions will include community colleges, colleges, universities and high schools. Coordinate alumni participation in admissions activities.
JD Admissions - General
• As required by the Assistant Dean, assist in the JD admissions process. This includes interviewing students, participating in admissions events, recruitment travel and other duties as assigned.
• Serve on relevant law school and university committees.
Required Education and Experience
Education: Master’s degree or Juris Doctor
Experience: Two years of legal or higher education experience
Preferred Experience
• Experience in law or graduate admissions
• Experience working with F1 students
