The Event and Communications Manager is an essential role that provides support for the successful execution of ADAPT events and communications/marketing operations. They will report directly to the ADAPT Director to support management of ADAPT’s training and technical assistance events. They will oversee ADAPT communications, including marketing and social media strategies and website content management. The Event and Communications manager will support other ADAPT functions as needed, when their skillset can enhance those functions. Lastly, they will supervise any graduate assistants or trainees assigned to event and/or communications roles.

Key Responsibilities:
* Event Planning and Management. Plan and manage all training and technical assistance events, including pre-event planning and coordination of event logistics. Engage external consultants for content development as applicable. Review post-event evaluations to inform future events. Research opportunities for new events. Prepare reports and updates documenting progress and success of training events. Publish and promote events, campaigns, etc. Events include technical webinars, evidence-based practice spotlight webinars, annual conferences for up to 2000 people, HIDTA-specific webinars, Special Topic Workshops, regional workshops for skill development, and other events as needed.
* Communications Management. Enhance ADAPT’s brand by developing and implementing marketing and messaging strategies targeting multiple communication channels including email, social media and website. Determine strategic communications campaigns that will further organizational goals. Plan and manage the design, content, and production of all marketing materials (e.g., event announcements, newsletter, product dissemination). Maintain and update website content. Ensure messaging is engaging and consistent with organizational goals. Track and monitor outcomes of communication strategies. Prepare communications reports.
* Additional Support. Support other HIDTA/ ADAPT functions that would benefit from input from the Event and Communications Manager.
* Supervision and Mentorship. Oversee and mentor any students/trainees assigned to event and communication support.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, marketing, management or relevant field is required. Master’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, marketing, management or relevant field is preferred.
Experience: Must have 5 years’ experience working in a marketing or communications role. Previous experience in project management is preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of Key Performance Indicators and marketing techniques for event management. Strong knowledge of communication practices and techniques; Expertise in video conferencing, design software, and social media platforms; Must be able to think analytically and strategically; Outstanding interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills; Skilled at problem-solving; Customer-service orientation; Team player; and Computer savvy.
