The University of Baltimore, a public urban-engaged university with a commitment to the ongoing betterment of our community and region, is seeking a Director for its Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (CEI). The Center's mission is to connect emerging and established entrepreneurs to resources and opportunities to accelerate sustainable revenue and growth.The Center is part of the Merrick School of Business, an AACSB International accredited institution that has been nationally recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of thecountry's Best Undergraduate Business and Part-Time MBA programs.

The Director is responsible for managing the CEI to maximize its overall impact on the greater Baltimore region, the small businesses located therein, and the emerging entrepreneurs at the University. The Director reports directly to the Dean. S/he also works with the entrepreneurship faculty and the CEI Advisory Board, and interfaces with local government, business community, students, and other constituents of the Merrick School.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The director must be a self-starter, have a strong operational focus, and possess the ability to make critical judgments and act independently on behalf of the Dean. Duties and responsibilities include:

  •  Implementing and delivering the CEI strategic plan to further its vision and mission of being the "go-to" resource for entrepreneurship and value creation,
  • Further developing and executing the operational plan,
  • Building strong relationships with and engaging the advisory board as advocates and collaborators in growing the CEI,
  • Developing strong relationships within the greater Baltimore (and Maryland) business community and serving as a "connector" between the business community and the CEI,
  • Recruiting student entrepreneurs and engage them in CEI activities,
  • Leveraging Merrick School of Business resources, including faculty and administration to engage them in CEI programming
  • Collaborating and navigating within the university, and
  • Developing and managing the CEI financial budget

Minimum Qualifications:

A minimum of a master's degree with 5 to 10 years of operational experience as well as knowledge of Maryland's business and entrepreneurial environment. Needed skills and attributes include:

  • Financial acuity and budget management
  • Strong operational and project management focus
  • Solid experience in business development
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with multiple constituents.
