Salary: $21,280-$28,538

Under direct supervision, performs manual labor duties in the maintenance of grounds and facilities.  Primary duties:
•    Performs grounds maintenance activities including cultivating, planting, watering, fertilizing, weeding, mowing and/or pruning lawn, gardens, shrubs and trees.
•    Plants shrubs, trees, flowers, and vegetation following detailed plans and directions.
•    Removes dirt, trash and debris from assigned areas and transports same to appropriate disposal facility.
•    Performs removal of snow and ice from assigned areas using hand and power snow removal equipment.  Spreads salt, sand and deicers to prevent slipping.
•    Operates hand and power equipment such as mowers, tillers, sweepers, snow blowers, edgers, shovels, and small vehicles.  Performs routine assembly, cleaning and maintenance of equipment as needed.
•    Measures, mixes and applies fertilizer, herbicides, pesticides, and other chemicals following specific instructions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  A high school diploma or GED and at least 2 years of commercial Groundskeeping experience are required.  

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:  Valid Maryland Noncommercial Class C or equivalent driver’s license may be required.  Candidates selected for employment may be subject to medical inquiries and/or medical examinations to determine ability to perform the position.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:  Ability to read, write, and perform arithmetic calculations; to follow oral and written instructions; to operate and perform minor maintenance to assigned hand and power tools and equipment; to perform work in, or, around, under and over trees, shrubs, and buildings and facilities; to work at heights up to 35 feet; to perform physical work requiring bending, stooping, reaching, carrying, and frequent heavy lifting; to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions; to war and work in personal protective equipment.

2. Education/Education History and References:

•Use the dropdown to enter your highest education level.
•Then, only college and university information is required. Click the plus sign to the left of the “Postsecondary Education” link to enter that information.
•For country, enter USA or click the hourglass to select another country.
•You can use the first day of the month wherever dates are required.
•Click the plus sign to the left of "References" to enter two professional references.
•After you enter your education information and references, click “Save,” then click “Next.”

•After you enter this information, click “Save,” then click “Next.”

4. Online Questionnaire/Application Questionnaire: There are three questions requiring a yes or no response. After you answer these three questions, click “Submit.” This leads you to the Submit Online Application page.


To apply for your selected job: When you reach the “Submit Online Application” page shown below, you must click “I agree to these terms” and then click the “Submit” button at the end of the screen. After you click “Submit,” then you will see this information at the top of your screen:
