Library Technician II (Acquisitions)

The University of Baltimore’s Langsdale Library is an active partner in teaching, learning, and scholarship at the University through its services, resources, and outreach.  We’re searching for a Library Technician II (Acquisitions) to help meet strategic goals including:

•    provide needed resources to support the curricular, cultural, and intellectual needs of the University community
•    improve access to our face-to face and virtual services and collections
•    engage in a process of continuous improvement which will include assessment of current services and development of new initiatives

The Library Technician II will:
•    review orders for books and media for the library collection, search for corresponding records in the integrated library system, and create records as needed
•    enter order records for and process receipts of new books and media for the library collection in the integrated library system
•    confirm invoices are accurate
•    process invoices in the integrated library system
•    process, work with catalog records for, and maintain physical collection of Federal documents received through the GPO depository program
•    maintain acquisitions and journal holdings records in Aleph and other library systems
•    receive and process print journals and standing orders; maintain print journal collection
•    prepare materials for binding several times a year
•    process students’ completed theses and dissertations
•    other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS
Requires a high school diploma or GED; at least three (3) years of library work experience (preferably in a technical services setting), experience working with records in an integrated library system (preferably with acquisitions or serials modules), and experience using OCLC.     A college degree and experience in an academic library setting are preferred.

Also required:  Ability to communicate effective both orally and in writing. Skill in various computer software packages, such as word processing, spreadsheets, and database programs, Internet, email and calendaring software.  Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to interact effectively with internal and external customers, including other library staff as well as students, in a courteous and efficient manner. Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and execute multiple and continuing assignments with general instructions.

Click “Save” to save the data you entered on that page. The message “You have successfully submitted your job application.” confirms only that you entered that page of information into the system. You must click “Next” to continue and complete the entire application process.

1. Current and Prior Employment/Work Experience:

•Enter employment information relevant to your position of interest.
•You can use the first day of the month wherever dates are required.
•After you enter your work experience, click “Save,” then click “Next.”

2. Education/Education History and References:

•Use the dropdown to enter your highest education level.
•Then, only college and university information is required. Click the plus sign to the left of the “Postsecondary Education” link to enter that information.
•For country, enter USA or click the hourglass to select another country.
•You can use the first day of the month wherever dates are required.
•Click the plus sign to the left of "References" to enter two professional references.
•After you enter your education information and references, click “Save,” then click “Next.”
 

3. How did you find out about us/how did you find out about the job?

•After you enter this information, click “Save,” then click “Next.”
 

4. Online Questionnaire/Application Questionnaire: There are three questions requiring a yes or no response. After you answer these three questions, click “Submit.” This leads you to the Submit Online Application page.
