Year End Computer Purchase Options
As you plan your end of year computer purchases, OTS has developed the following pre-approved configurations and quotes for computers. To purchase one or more of the system listed here and in the referenced spreadsheet, simply create a PS Requisition, include the general description and quote number in the Description field of the PS Requisition (one line per model/quote), include the quantity you need, and the price from the referenced spreadsheet. Please include the name of the end user, and the building and room number to which the computer should be delivered after it has been tagged for inventory control and configured by OTS.

Manufacturer lead time for a new computer is running approximately two weeks. Orders funded by FY 13 funds must be received by June 30, 2013. Orders should be placed no later than June 1, 2013 (requisitions over $5,000 for the models listed on the spreadsheet will be accepted until June 1, or until we are cut-off by the vendors. This exception is possible because contracts with the vendors have already been awarded by Procurement).
Quick Guideline for Selecting a System
The Excel workbook contains two spreadsheets (workstations and laptops), and is broken down as follows:
Recommended Dell Desktop
Recommended Dell Laptop
Multiple options are available to consider when shopping for a laptop. The quotes are a mix and match between the physical size and weight of a laptop, the speed of the processor, and the type of hard drive. To select which system will best suit your needs, consider the following features:
Display Size (LCD screen)
The larger the display (screen) the heavier the laptop will be to lug around. User preference for a larger display outweighs their desire for a lighter laptop and vice versa. The available display sizes for Dell Latitudes include 15.6”, 14.1” and 13.3”.
If your budget is tight, consider purchasing a base system. All base systems have excellent processors whether it is a (i3), (i5) or (i7). The base system does not have webcams, solid state drives, or added coverage such as” CompleteCare” or “ProSupport”. Other quotes are provided in the worksheet that incorporates one or more of the features mentioned above.
Warranties
A three year “Basic Warranty” is provide with all Dell systems. This is a basic manufacturer warranty that covers system repairs due to hardware malfunctions.
Additional options such as docking station (port replicator), memory upgrade, and wireless keyboard/mouse are available for all desktop and laptop purchases.
