The Office of the Provost encourages faculty to nominate peers or themselves for the 2010 Maryland Campus Compact (MDCC) awards recognizing involvement with the greater Baltimore community through action research, service-learning or other forms of academic engagement.
A membership association of college and university presidents and
their institutions committed to promoting engaged citizenship as an aim
of higher education, MDCC works to strengthen the capacity of member
institutions to serve society; to enhance student learning; and to
develop in individual students the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and
habits of civic responsibility locally and globally.
The six award categories include:
- The Service-Learning Faculty Award
- Community Partnership Award
- Institutional Leadership Award
- The Engaged Campus Award
- The Service-Learning Scholarship
- Civic Engagement Award
The deadline to submit a nomination is September 24, 2010. All nominations will be reviewed by a committee comprised of Campus Compact members outside of Maryland. Detailed descriptions and instructions for each award may be downloaded here
