Getting a UBalt E-mail Account
Both your Network User ID and your university e-mail address are assigned automatically. Faculty and staff accounts are assigned as a part of the hiring process, while student accounts are assigned as a part of the registration process. If you have student account issues, click here.
Students:
All incoming students will receive an email address that is comprised from your legal First “dot” Last names @ubalt.edu.
Example: Steven Smith will have the email address of steven.smith@ubalt.edu
Faculty and Staff:
All incoming faculty and staff will have an email address that is comprised from their First name initial followed by their last name @ubalt.edu.
Example: Steven Smith will have the email address of
ssmith@ubalt.edu
In the event the default email address from the examples above is already in use, your email address will have a numerical value added to the prefix.
Example: If ssmith@ubalt.edu is already being used then your email address will be ssmith2@ubalt.edu If that is already in use then it will be ssmith3@ubalt.edu and so on until a numerical value is available.
The same logic of numerical values applies to student email addresses.
Preferred Names:
Students, faculty and staff have the ability to chose a preferred first name rather than using their legal first name (Bob instead of Robert). If this is done then you would need to contact OTS to have your email addressed changed according to the process outlined above. We do not offer preferred last names; only legal last names can be used for email addresses or your Display Name.
Contact OTS Call Center if you need assistance with your email address, user ID or password.
