Panopto lecture capture files are saved for one year. If you wish to retain files for future use or reference, you can download your recordings/lectures for offline access. The instructions here will step you through moving the files to your top-level folder then saving them for offline access.

  1. From Panopto's All Folders view, hover over the session name you want to download.
  2. Click the Settings icon that appears below the session name.
    A session information screen displays.
  3. On the Folder line, click edit.
    A drop down menu will become available for the folder location.
  4. From the Folder drop down menu, select your top-level folder
  5. Click Save 

You'll have options for Panopto Web Viewer, Video Podcast, Audio Podcast. Instructions for each format follow. 

  • Saving for Video Podcast

    This results in a file with video and audio. 

    1. Under the Video Podcast section, click the Type drop down menu.  
    2. Select your preferred display type:
      Picture-in-Picture: displays the desktop as a large window with a small shot of the camera video in the corner.
      Primary Video Only: displays the camera video only.
      Secondary Video Only: displays the desktop capture only. 
      Side-by-Side or Tile All Streams: displays a split screen or all streams in tiles, respectively.  
    3. Select your preferred Quality. The better the quality, the larger the resulting file.
    4. Click Apply.
    5. Click Download Podcast.
    6. Select the location where you want to save the file. 
  • Saving for Audio Podcast

    This results in an audio only, MP3 file. 

    1. Under the Audio Podcast section, select Download MP3 Audio
    2. Select the location where you want to save the file.
