Length of Time in Jail Pretrial for Misdemeanor Offenses
Criminalization of poverty is a major problem. This indicator will track the prevalence of civil or misdemeanor cases that result in increased severity of legal consequences due to a defendant's inability to post bail or pay fines. We are in the process of procuring data for this indicator.

Civil Legal Aid Attorney Ratio
To calculate this ratio, we divide the number of full-time-equivalent civil legal aid attorneys employed in the state by the number of people in the state with incomes at or below 200 percent of the federal poverty level.

Violent Crime Rate per 1,000 Residents
The violent crime rate measures the number of Part 1 crimes identified as being violent (homicide, rape, aggravated assault, and robbery) that are reported to the Police Department.
Percent Population (Over Age of 18) Who Voted in the General Election
The percentage of persons who voted in the last general election out of all registered voters.

Goal 16 Global Targets
