Ways to Make Your Office More Sustainable

Turn Off Your Monitor and Log Off Computer

Click off your monitor every time you leave your office for more than 20 minutes. It's easy. Log off your computer in the evening. (OTS does upgrades at night)

Turn the Lights Off

If you leave the office for more than 5 minutes, turn the lights off.

Unplug Devices not in use

Plugged in devices suck energy even when you do not use them. Consider unplugging before vacations.

Utilize a Power Strip

Switching off a power strip enables turning off peripheral devices all at once. Turning off appliances is more efficient than idle modes.

Use Energy Efficient devices

Use Energy Star equipment. They pay for themselves.

Be Smart with Your Blinds

Block extreme heat or cold by closing your blinds. At normal temperatures, turn off the lights, open the window blinds, and allow natural sun light to brighten your room .

Dress Appropriately

If it is cold put on that extra sweater. Avoid energy hog space heaters.

Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle

Print less, use less, print in black and white, recycle what you can, use recycled items.

Getting Around

Take the stairs and not the elevator to and from the office.

Work as a Group

Make a departmental sustainable plan. Coordinate together.
