YORK, PA — York College of Pennsylvania and the University of Baltimore are proud to announce a new partnership that establishes a streamlined "3+3" dual-degree law program. This partnership provides York College students with an accelerated pathway to earn both their bachelor’s degree and a Juris Doctor in less time.

Under the terms of the agreement, qualified York College students can apply to the University of Baltimore School of Law after completing three years (90 semester hours) of undergraduate study. If accepted, the first 30 credits earned at the University of Baltimore School of Law will also count toward satisfying the final requirements for the student's undergraduate degree at York College.

The 3+3 agreement is available to York College students in three programs: Political Science, Philosophy, and Pre-Law Studies.

"This partnership reflects our commitment to providing York College students with exceptional value and clear professional pathways," said Dr. Thomas Burns, President of York College of Pennsylvania. "By teaming up with the University of Baltimore School of Law, we are allowing our dedicated students to jumpstart their legal careers while maintaining the top-tier academic standards of both institutions. We are thrilled to work alongside President Schmoke and his team to create a bridge between Pennsylvania and Maryland for the next generation of legal experts."

"The University of Baltimore and York College of Pennsylvania are well aligned when it comes to creating opportunities for our students,” said University of Baltimore President Kurt L. Schmoke. “While York has many years on us in terms of providing higher education — we celebrated UBalt's Centennial just last year — both institutions are strong believers in experiential learning and career preparation. With this new agreement, we'll be able to open doors for even more of the many talented and capable people who call this region their home. It's a natural fit between two institutions that focus on student outcomes as a top priority."

LaVonda Reed, Dean of the University of Baltimore School of Law, said: “We are excited about this exciting partnership between our two institutions and are looking forward to educating the next generation of aspiring attorneys who will meet the legal needs of communities throughout the region.”

Program Highlights:

  • Accelerated Timeline: Students can complete both degrees in six years instead of the traditional seven.
  • Flexible Options: Once accepted by the University of Baltimore, students can attend the University of Baltimore School of Law as full-time students for three years or part-time for four years.
  • Early Admissions: The program includes an "Early Presumptive Admissions" process for students who meet specific annual criteria set by Baltimore.
  • Academic Standard: Students must maintain a strong academic record at York College, including completing all general education and major-specific requirements.
