Sarah Creighton
Sarah Creighton has loved school her whole life and couldn't wait to get to college. When her high school was taking a group of juniors to tour The University of Baltimore, her guidance counselor tapped Sarah, only a sophomore, to tag along and she wouldn't forget the experience.
"I felt such a welcoming and comfortable feeling when I was on the tour from the tour guide, the people around campus, and the environment."
UBalt also had the added benefit of being close to home.
Sarah pursued a bachelor's degree in Psychology, earning her way into the Helen P. Denit Honors Program, which unlocked access to smaller classes, special events and global field studies. When she graduated in December 2020, she became the first person in her family to earn a college degree.
But driven by her love to learn, Sarah wasn't finished. She decided to take her education to the next level and pursue a M.S. in Applied Psychology, which offers a concentration in Industrial-Organizational Psychology.
As a student at UBalt, Sarah appreciated the flexible scheduling and online course options so she could hold a full-time job.
Sarah also appreciated the experiences she gained and opportunities she had beyond the classroom. She served as an officer of her program's honors society, Psi Chi, and held positions on campus through federal work study funding, in addition to being in the Honors Program.
"UBalt has allowed me to break out of my shell so much," Sarah says. "I used to be so shy and embarrassed to take part in extracurriculars, but UBalt made me feel so empowered and comfortable enough to always step out of my comfort zone. I am much more educated, bold and well-rounded because of UBalt."
